Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. In 2018 I will be driving in the SSAFA Rally For Heroes event held in August. Sarah and I will be driving a minimum distance of 2,280 miles in recognition of the 456 lives that were lost during the Afghanistan conflict. The rally travels through 10 European countries in 10 days.[/p][p]SSAFA is a brilliant charity and it believes that the commitment of our Forces and their families deserves lifelong support. So it provides practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who is serving or has ever served and their families. In 2016 they received 25,531 calls and emails to the SSAFA Forcesline contacts line and supported 38,978 people in the local community. They really do go the extra mile to help our current and ex service personnel and their families.[/p][p]The 2018 Rally has the goal of raising over £100,000 (all participants pay their own costs) and my personal target is £3,500 (100% of the money raised goes to SSAFA). So to raise this amount I am going to run 3 UK half marathons with each one representing a Service. I start on April 15th in the Boston half marathon (Royal Air Force), then onto Stratford (British Army) on 13th May and finally Plymouth on the 20th May (Royal Navy). My final challenge will be to beat my one and only half marathon time of 1:46:16 set in 2010 (I was a lot younger and lighter then!!). It is going to be hard but it is all for a great cause so please help where you can. Thank you.[/p][p]UPDATE - Boston half marathon completed - Time 1hr 49 mins 50 sec. [/p][p]UPDATE - Stratford half marathon completed - Time 1hr 49 mins 18 sec.[/p][p]UPDATE - Plymouth half marathon completed - Time 1hr 49 mins 33 sec.[/p][p]Thanks to all who have sponsored me. I really appreciate your kind generosity !! [/p][p]Jim [/p]
