My story

[p]Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to check out my fundraising page. [/p][p]The closest I've come to running a marathon before is running a half marathon and at the end of a half marathon, I barely want to run another 13 metres, let alone 13 miles. But on 6 October, I'm running Bournemouth Marathon to raise money for the Samaritans and I need your help to keep me running to the finish line. [/p][p]Whoever you are, whatever your story, Samaritans are there when you need someone to talk to – 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Samaritans provides a safe place to talk, without needing to worry about being judged or being told what to do. And it’s a place you can talk about things you may not feel comfortable sharing with anyone else, including thoughts about suicide. [/p][p]Every Samaritans branch is responsible for their own fundraising and I'm raising money for my local branch in Kingston and for Festival Samaritans. With over 100 volunteers, Kingston Branch provides emotional support by phone, email, text and face to face, while also doing some amazing outreach work in the local community. [/p][p]You may be less familiar with Festival Branch and may wonder why Samaritans would ever be needed at a festival, where presumably most people are having a great time. But people at a festival can be having a tough time too. Whether it’s something going on back home that you hoped to forget about at the festival or something that’s happened while you’re there, sometimes people need a safe place to talk. And that’s where Festival Branch fits in - sending teams of volunteers to festivals and events across the country to be there for anyone going through a difficult time. [/p][p]Any support you can offer to help Festival Samaritans and Kingston Samaritans continue to do the work they do will be hugely appreciated. And every penny will keep me putting one foot in front of the other towards the finishing line at Bournemouth marathon! [/p][p]Thank you for your support. [/p]
