My story

[p]My Dad, Howell Phillips, was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer in November 2016, his prognosis, considering the stage of the cancer was 9-18months, a long time you may say, or not long enough. Either way, I am very grateful to say as are all my family, that he is still with us and fighting this awful and cruel disease every step of the way. With a stubborn and strong willed approach Dad has surpassed all expectations, has tried every treatment offered to him and has taken every set back in his stride and has been nothing short of inspirational in how he has dealt with what life has chosen to throw it him and I need not look any further than this for my own motivation for taking on a challenge such as this. [/p][p]The challenge I am undertaking will see me cover roughly 370 miles by foot and on bike during the summer of 2020. Walking the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks as well as walking across Brecon Beacons from the Rhondda Valleys and finally scaling Snowdon to finish, hopefully with a Penderyn at the top!! The cycling will be the means by which I link all the walking routes together, covering approximately 240 miles on road and cycle tracks. [/p][p]Some may wonder why my challenge is called the 'Triple H', quite simply my dad Howell's three homes have been the beloved Rhondda, Plymouth and his spiritual home The Snowdonia National Park. [/p][p]Donating and helping us achieve the target would mean more to my family and I that you will ever know.[/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Diolch[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]

Well done Rhys, great achievement on behalf of your Dad. I was at Marjons with Howell, we held up the front row of the Marjons rugby team on many occasions and drank a few beers and sang a few songs afterwards as well. Always inspirational to me.

Hi Rhys I was at Marjons with your Dad in the 70s and had to google him to find out how he was getting on right now. Congrats on your amazing feat. Howell is an amazing guy so he's worth it! Last saw Dad up at Marjons in 2018. Think of him often. Jane

Mr. Phillips was hugely influential during my years at Bonnies - an absolutely top man. All the best to your family.
