My story

[lt]p style="line-height: 14.199999809265137px; margin: 0px 0px 1.35em; color: #444444;"[gt]My son Nathan, who's 15, and I will be running the Brighton Marathon in April. Nathan has severe learning disabilities. I'll be pushing Nath in his all terrain buggy while he sits back and laughs at my suffering! Ive been training hard and Nath has been eating laxative sandwiches so he's light enough to push!! ;) We're hoping to raise money for the Ashdown centre in Worthing which is part of Guildcare. Guildcare supports elderly people, carers, people with Dementia, people with special needs and their families. The Ashdown centre run clubs for young disabled children to provide short respite breaks as well as a club called Ashdown extra for young adults (18-30) who have learning disabilities. At the moment Nathan attends Ashdown Youth where he mixes with other teenagers with disabilities. They do fun activities at the centre and go out for trips. It is clearly the highlight of Nathans week when he arrives and sees the staff & his friends (especially the female ones!). He absolutely loves going to the centre, the staff are fantastic and he always has a huge smile when we drop him off!! Its so important that places like Ashdown keep raising money as its extremely difficult for people with disabilities like Nath to mix with other people their own age. Ashdown also provide sessions for siblings of disabled children where they can meet with other kids in a similar situation to them and have a fun day out. For young carers like Holly and Cian, as they get older it is so important that they are made to feel valued and special too.[/p][lt]p style="line-height: 14.199999809265137px; margin: 0px 0px 1.35em; color: #444444;"[gt] Ashdown will be so grateful for any donations they receive so they can keep doing what they already do so well, and Nath and I would really appreciate all your support![/p]

Ricky, well done on completing the marathon for such a good cause and in that time. It certainly looks like Nathan enjoyed himself and suffered less than you! The Sharpe’s
