My story

[p]Ruby and Lucía met at nursery and she quickly became a friend to all of us. She would greet me every morning since she was 3 with a "hola!" and immediately ask me to teach her a new word in Spanish. The girls love her, we all do. She is smart and witty and bubbly and funny and curious and a truly, truly happy little girl. To say Ruby is amazing is an understatement. She was diagnosed with stage IV alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma when she was 4 years old and underwent extensive chemo and radiotherapy, all with a smile. She was in remission for some months, but the disease returned in February and Ruby is facing a second round of treatment to manage the disease and prolong her life for as long as possible.[/p][p]Rhabdomyosarcoma is a very rare and aggressive muscle cancer that mainly affects children, and sadly, rare diseases get the short end of the stick when assigning research funding. The Children's cancer and leukaemia group (CCLG) runs a research fund programme that allows families and members of the public to support research into specific aspects of childhood cancer. This family doesn't want anyone to have to go through what they’re going through, so they have set up a fund called “Super Ruby’s Rhabdo Raiser”, where every penny raised will go into research in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. We decided to join the "race for life 5K" as a family, for Ruby, for Claire and Andy. Please donate. It will not only bring money to much needed research, but it will make this family happy, and my friends need happy.[/p][p]You can read more about Ruby's journey here: https://www.cclg.org.uk/Super-Rubys-Rhabdo-Raiser[/p]
