Team story

[p]Thankyou for visiting our page.  We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p] Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][p]We have chosen to support two charities which are important to us.  The first, The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust has helped us on two separate occasions when Larissa had an ectopic pregnancy (2010 and 2015).  The second, The Running Charity, helps homeless young people to get back on their feet, and back into mainstream society.  Running has helped us and it's great to see running helping others.[/p][p]We've put a little bit about both our charities below, and you can also click through to their websites:[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust[/span][/p][p]http://www.ectopic.org.uk[/p][p]Ectopic Pregnancy is a common, life threatening condition that is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK.  Women who suffer may have to face the physical trauma of major invasive treatment, their own mortality, the impact on their future fertility and the sad loss of losing their baby all very quickly. This can be a very frightening and distressing experience.[/p] [p]The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented or minimised and seeks to support women and their families through this difficult period of their lives. The Charity also provides Information, Education and Support to medical professionals who treat early pregnancy complications.[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Running Charity[/span] [/p][p]http://therunningcharity.org/[/p][p]In the UK alone, 80,000 young people aged 16 to 24 experience homelessness each year. Homelessness deeply impacts both the young person affected and the wider-society.[/p] [p]Without the support that so many of us take for granted, becoming a young adult can be extremely daunting. Homeless youths often lack confidence, motivation and a sense of purpose which negatively affects their mental health. There is a strong association between homelessness and a withdrawal from education, employment or training.[/p][p]Running is as good for your mind as it is for your body. That's why The Running Charity created the UK's first running-orientated programme for homeless and vulnerable young people. Engaging them in regular running-based activities with qualified fitness professionals, they harness the underlying benefits as a powerful motivational tool.[/p] [p]The Running Charity partners with existing homeless charities, providing a diverse training programme that ensures high levels of engagement. Young people receive quality sportswear and take part in varied fitness sessions three days a week, as well as public running events. The flexible approach ensures that no one is excluded, that barriers to participation are removed and that each member makes the successful transition from homelessness to a secure and prosperous future.[/p]
