My story

[p]So last May Lucy, myself and our family endured a very painful and emotional time when Bobby was admitted to Alder Hey with a respiratory track infection. He spent 3 and half days in an induced coma while the wonderful staff and the drugs worked their collective magic to combat the virus and bacterial infection which had taken hold of his little body. [/p][p]We spent a further four days in the care of the staff while other tests and he was observed. Luckily and gratefully all of the efforts that Alder Hey provided in that week means he has made a full recovery and is back to being a cheeky (if annoying at times) little 6year old.[/p][p]Since his time with them I’ve done a couple of small charity bike ride events for them but with the first anniversary fast approaching (which is crazy in its own right) I have decided to try and raise the cost of a 24hr stay in PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit). It costs the NHS £2800 for 1 child to spend 1 day in PICU. [/p][p]And so to The Challenge……..[/p][p]In the three and a half days he was in PICU I will ride my bike from Southport to Alderhey to Brimingham Childrens Hospital to Great Ormond Street to Paris, and finish where the greatest bike race finishes on the Champs-Élysées.[/p][p]The dates….. [/p][p]Friday 3rd May leaving at 10am (when he was taken in the ambulance to A and E) heading to Alder Hey and then onto Birmingham Childrens.[/p][p]Saturday 4th May Birmingham Childrens to GOSH (My brother Colin will be joining me from here to Paris to make sure I make it) [/p][p]Sunday 5th May GOSH to Newhaven (overnight on the ferry) to Dieppe to Champs-Élysées (Finishing sometime Monday PM)[/p][p]In total 750kms in the 3.5 days as long as I don’t take a wrong turn!!!!!!!!!![/p][p]If you could spare any money for this cause I would be eternally grateful as the work these wonderful people do and the care they provided for all of the children in their hours of need is beyond words as a parent.
