My story

[lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][lt]img style="vertical-align: text-bottom;" title="Finse" src="http://www.starwars-universe.com/images/prelogie/guideroutard/finse_hiver.jpg" alt="Starting point - Finse" width="340" height="255" /[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]The starting point, Finse[/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]What am I doing to encourage you to sponsor me? Well firstly I will be out of the country for a short while, so it means you will get a little peace and quiet, albeit short lived.[/p][p]But mainly I, and a few hardy Viking comrades, will be embarking on a 100km (actually just over 100km but i'll do the last couple of km for free) cross country ski, over 3 days, in Norway from Finse to Geilo. Finse is the highest point on the Bergen to Oslo railway line, and when Norway says high it means high![/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][lt]img title="Finishing in Geilo" src="http://www.wheretoskiandsnowboard.com/images/uploads/resorts_gallery/GEILO_31.jpg" alt="Finishing in Geilo" width="340" height="242" /[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]Finishing in Geilo[/p][p]The charities benefitting from these exploits are Help Musicans UK, which was formerly known as the Musicians Benevolent fund, Medical detection dogs and Action on bladder cancer.[/p][p]The reasons those have been chosen? I spend a lot of my time involved in music and musical things, as a lot of you know, and most of the people I know these days are in one way or another connected with music and Help Musicians UK does what it says on the tin.[lt]br /[gt]My father recently suffered from bladder cancer, and has had 2 big operations over the last year, so it makes sense to help them out.[lt]br /[gt]The last choice is actually who my father donates to, so that is why that has been included and is more than worthwhile.[/p][p]The way the money is split: 50% Help Musicians UK, 25% each to the two cancer charities. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][lt]img title="Route map" src="http://www.gigblasters.co.uk/kartrute.jpg" alt="Map of route" width="420" height="280" /[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]Route Map - click here to see full size[/p][p]You will be able to see progress during the trip online as we will be using a GPS system...so you know i'm not sat in the bar. Pictures etc of the trek plus the huts we will stay in will also be posted.[/p]
