My story

[p]On the 6th July, Rohan and Rees are running a 100K race called the Serpent Trail in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital as part of the Cascaid initiative.[/p][p]Given that Rohan has never actually run a marathon, 100K is potentially a very ambitious distance to cover in one single day and with an added time check to disqualify slow runners. Last year only 13 runners completed the course. We were originally a team of 5 and are now down to 2 able bodies![/p][p]That said, I'm sure GOSH needs no introduction as the most amazing cause and one to suffer a few blisters for.[/p][p]If anyone would be kind enough to make a donation however large or small it would be incredibly gratefully received[/p][p]Frequently asked questions:[/p][p]1) 100K?! really?! How far is that? [/p][p]Two and half marathons in one day or to put it another way – West London to Swindon.[/p][p]2) Seems incredibly stupid - Do you stop to eat?[/p][p]Yes, there are stops to eat and drink[/p][p]3) Where is the race? Is it flat?[/p][p]It’s in the South Downs so no, the bigger climbs and more regular ascents (including the highest point in the National Park, Blackdown) come in the first half of the race. The route is then flatter for the last 30km…[/p][p]4) When is it?[/p][p]6th July, so the hottest month of the year. We’re praying for clouds and drizzle[/p][p]5) Have you run marathons before?[/p][p]Rees has, Rohan hasn’t[/p][p]6) How long will it take?[/p][p]Somewhere between 14-18 hours, assuming we do actually finish. Maybe 5am to 10 pm[/p][p]7) do you need special kit?[/p][p]yes, there is a daunting kit list![/p][p]http://www.serpenttrailrace.com/100k-kit-list[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
