Team story

[p]Raising funds for Porchlight[/p][p]“Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes”[/p][p]We all know the phrase, “don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes”, it roughly translates to don't judge another person's life until you've been forced to live it.[/p][p]Fortunately, most of us will never know how it feels to be homeless, to have to sleep rough, to never know where your next meal is going to come from, to wear the same clothes you have worn for who knows how long. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. [/p][p]Rough sleeping takes away hope and destroys lives. No-one should have to experience it yet, shockingly, rough sleeping in England has risen by 169% in the last seven years.[/p][p]So whilst we are fortunate enough not to have to walk a mile in a homeless person’s shoes, a team of staff at Romax have entered The Snowdonia Challenge 2019 – Walking 100kms in 3 Days – all to raise funds for Porchlight, a Homelessness charity working in Kent and the south-east.[/p][p]Romax’s walking team will include staff from all different kinds of fitness levels, ranging Marathon runners, English Channel swimmers and fitness freaks, to those who have never ventured farther than a walk around the park. So while this walk will be a challenge for all involved, some are going to find this tougher than others![/p][p]But no matter how tough we find it, this challenge will pale into insignificance compared to being homeless, and this will be considered when we need to dig deep and push on![/p][p]Watch this space for further news, and interviews with the Romax staff participating in this challenge.[/p]

I see many homeless people locally as well as in NYC. All it can take is a single event in someone’s life to change ones circumstances. I’ve made a practice of giving a portion of my photography business to various causes. This is certainly a great one.
