My story

[p]I am a Music Therapist working in Scotland for Barchester Healthcare in four of their homes.[/p][p]The runs I am doing are all in preparation for an 8-day multi-stage running event in the Alps that will take me through 4 countries.[/p][p]In the process I would like to have another crack at raising some funds for the Barchester Foundation to help enable them to continue with the good work carried out in our local communities. The focus for this year is on connecting or re-connecting people with others in their local community. This lines up with "Connecting People, Connecting Support" (https://www.alzscot.org/ahp) currently being implemented in Scotland as part of our National Dementia Strategy.[/p][p]So, to begin I will tackle the John Muir Way Ultra Marathon (https://foxtrailscotland.co.uk/races/ultra/) on 30th March. This is a 50km run from Port Seton to Dunbar(ish).[/p][p]On 27th April I will tackle the Highland Fling Ultra Marathon (https://www.highlandflingrace.org/) which takes in a fair chunk of the West Highland Way, starting in Milngavie and finishing in Tyndrum 53 miles later (85km). It's a hilly, challenging beast of a run![/p][p]Next is the Scottish Islands Peaks Race (https://www.scottishislandspeaksrace.com/) beginning on May 17th and finishing...when it's finished! It starts in Oban and continues on the Islands of Mull, Jura and Arran before finishing in Troon. A total of roughly 63 miles (101km).[/p][p][br][/p][p]St Cuthbert's Way Ultra (https://stcuthbertsultra.com/) is on 29th June and is 100km (62 miles). It starts off on Holy Island and finishes up in the Scottish Borders town of Melrose.[/p][p]Hopefully by that time I will be ready to take on the Alps in September.[/p][p]x[/p][p]*update* 50km of John Muir Way Ultra completed in 4hrs 29secs. Just missed out on the sub-4! 12th place overall![/p][p]Next up is the Highland Fling 53 mile race on April 27th.[/p][p]x[/p][p]*update*[/p][p]Highland Fling was competed in 8 hrs 55 mins. It rained all day![/p][p]x[/p][p]*update*[/p][p]Scottish Islands Peaks Race was completed, finishing up on Sunday 19th May in the evening sometime! It was still daylight, anyway. Calm waters made it a struggle at times. So did the hills, mind you![/p][p]x[/p]
