My story

[p]Last year, I heartbreakingly lost the most thoughtful, loving, genuinely kind person I ever had the privilege to call my best friend, and my boyfriend. The pain of not having him here is indescribable, so I thought I would share how I came to be leaping out of a perfectly functional airplane voluntarily. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Many people have said that one thing which was most memorable about Sam was his beautiful smile and utterly infectious laugh. As a couple, laughter followed us everywhere. Sam would say ‘lifes too short to be serious’; which we took literally from playing hide and seek around tesco to playing tipsy mini golf. When planning our holiday to Croatia, Sam suggested the most hilarious thing I’d ever heard… skydiving over the islands of Croatia. I’m someone who barely goes up into my loft without getting very shaky and sweaty palms, and knowing this Sam still avidly tried to convince me to jump out of a plane with him. Somehow, he convinced me to consider it, to which he responded ‘ wow Rosie, you must really love me’. So Sam, for you, I’m jumping out a plane, and you better laugh at me when I do![/p][p][br][/p][p]I am skydiving for You Raise Me Up, along with Sam’s family on the 10th June 2018; this amazing charity has been simply inspirational in supporting so many of us with the loss of Sam. The charity’s sole purpose is to raise funds to support families that have suffered the loss of a teenage child. The aim of the charity is to be able to provide compassion, support and simply to be able to say “we totally understand” rather than “we cannot imagine what you are going through”. I’m so happy to be giving something back to You Raise Me Up and will be eternally grateful for all donations towards this fabulous charity who, with all of our support will continue to shed light into people's lives in the darkest of times.
