My story

[lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Thanks for taking the time out of your day to visit this fundraising page. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Although, in my head, what I'm trying to do seems long-winded and difficult to explain, I'll do my best to keep it brief. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]I've selected a handful of away Nottingham Forest FC fixtures from the 2012/13 season and I'm going to run to them*. Run the whole way, from stadium to stadium using just my feet. Both of them. Wherever possible, these journeys will be split across consecutive days, trying my best to avoid any long rest periods. Being new to 'ultra distances', it's going to be a huge challenge for me. The longest I had run before doing this was a very painful 26.2 miles in 2011. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]In my head, I'm planning on running to 5 fixtures and will be running over 250 miles in the process* (not including training mileage, etc).[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]I completed the first in the series of runs on October 6th with a 59 mile route to London Road, home of Peterborough United - just 4 days after completing the Nottingham Half Marathon.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]The 2nd run was completed on November 10th when I ran 27 miles to Leicester, less than 24 hours after I cycled between Nottingham and Leicester with 3 members of the Nottingham Forest coaching staff.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]On a snowy January 19th, I' ran to Pride Park, the home of Derby County FC over 17 miles. Just two weeks later I ran a 59 mile route to Birmingham City FC's St. Andrews Stadium in less than 2 days. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]On March 1st, I'm setting off for Hillsbrough in Sheffield. This 44 mile run will be the last one in the City Ground to Other Ground series.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]The two charities selected for fundraising are Prostate Cancer UK (The Football League's official charity partner and therefore a fitting cause) and the Alzheimer's Society, a charity selected for personal reasons as the illness has greatly affected my family in recent times. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]I will be updating this page as often as possible with links, pictures, details of new ventures, etc, but please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or want further information about what I'm trying to do. [/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Regular blog updates can be found at http://rowansz.wordpress.com[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]I really do appreciate you taking the time to read this far and I thank you for any support.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]- Rowan[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]*I am one of the most injury prone people around, so this all depends on my body holding itself together. [/p]
