Team story

[p]Sara: “I am going to row the Atlantic in 2019”[/p][p]Ann: “I’m coming with you”[/p][p]And so began Row Off the Wall and our entry into the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge Race 2019.[/p][p]Starting in La Gomera, Canary Islands, we will row across the Atlantic Ocean to Antigua. 3,000 miles. 2 hours on, 2 hours off. 24 hours a day, 7 hours a week. For as long as it takes.[/p][p][vmgvideo width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/70gZno8qi-s?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"][/vmgvideo][/p][p]We are raising money for 2 important charities, Alzheimer's Society and Street League. [/p][p]Dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people in the UK will be living with the condition. This disease has a devastating impact on both the person affected and on the wider family unit. You watch as your loved ones become increasingly more confused, more afraid and frustrated. Alzheimer's Society provides a means of navigating this unknown territory by providing expert information, training and support services to all those who need their help. They work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. Please help us to raise funds and so enable Alzheimer's Society to continue their vital work.[/p][p]Youth unemployment is still a massive problem in the UK. More than 1 in 7 16-24 year olds are unemployed, rising to 1 in 4 young people in the areas of deprivation in which Street League operates. This is a huge cost to the taxpayer and society as well as the long-term detrimental consequences of unemployment on mental and physical wellbeing. Our row will be physically punishing and psychologically testing. But we believe can push through this to reach our potential. Let's support Street League to give young people opportunities to reach their potential too and let's put an end to youth unemployment.[/p][p][vmgvideo width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/M3pwat4D7fs?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"][/vmgvideo][/p][p]Read more about our challenge and the charities we are supporting:[/p][p]www.rowoffthewall.com[/p][p]www.alzheimers.org.uk[/p][p]www.streetleague.co.uk[/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
