My story

[p]In May 2013, a month after my son, Rishi, was born and with my previous longest run being a school cross country aged 15, I decided to tick a box off my Bucket List and apply for a place in the London Marathon. There was no first time lucky application. Or second or third time lucky... but fast forward to 28th April 2019 and the box has finally been ticked off![/p][p]It was an AMAZING day, truly one of the best things I've ever done and certainly made all the winter training runs in the rain, wind and cold 1000% worth it. My knee started giving me grief at the halfway point, so that made the second half a lot slower than I'd hoped, but I'm still very pleased to have got around in 5h 39m. It's almost a cliche to talk about how great the London crowds are, but they really are as good as everyone says - being willed on every step of the way by the crowds and knowing my you lot, my friends and family, have dontated so much of their money to two great causes made it a true pleasure to run.[/p][p]I want to give a HUGE thanks to everyone who has sponsored me, especially to the three extremely generous friends who contributed £500 each!!! :-O[/p][p]We've been raising money for two great causes: Rishi has received great care from the Evelina Children's Hospital in London, so they're one of the sponsorship recipients and an amazing local Children's hospice called Demelza is the second.[/p][p]Once again, a huge huge thanks to everyone who has supported me and two very good causes.[/p][p]Dan[/p]
