My story

[p]Nearly fourteen months ago Anne and I lost a much loved son Ricky through suicide. Our family lost a brother, uncle and one of our grandchildren has to grow up without his Dad. Our wider family lost a nephew, cousin and grandson.[/p][p]I must admit I have taken a far deeper look at Mental Health since and it is shocking at the lack of funding and the number of people that appear to suffer in silence, in their own darkness. There are charities that want to help but they need funding and need to have their names put out in the public domain more so people know there is someone who wants to listen, who wants to help.[/p][p]I want to raise money for Sussex Oakleaf in memory of Ricky. [/p][p]I thought what could I do that would make people realise I had set myself a goal that would REALLY be a massive challenge to me. [/p][p]I know, having given up smoking and not exercised properly since school, I will run a half-marathon all 13.1 miles of it.[/p][p]So 10 weeks ago I asked a good friend Colin to help me train. He has trained for and run Half-marathons so I knew I would be looked after. He pushes me, encourages me and is a huge help. He is going to ruin all his personal best times to run with me in order to get me to the end.[/p][p]I am getting encouragement from my whole family and I may not look pretty but I will finish.[/p][p]I will be running 29th March 2020 in Hastings.[/p][p]If you have got this far then a big thank you for reading and an even bigger thank you if you donated whatever you can x[/p][p]Richard and Anne[/p]
