My story

[p]2 March, 2019. [/p][p]4 weeks ago I lost my Dad. Another human that was taken by cancer. Training has been rather spotty, but with three people to hold in my heart on race day, run I will! Dad was planning to be there this year. He was always proud of his daughter’s various sporting challenges. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Another Update. April 2018[/p][p]I had the great pleasure of watching the London Marathon last Sunday, 22 April. What a magnificent day for a magnificent event. I was inspired to, and am ready to, get back on the fitness trail in preparation for London 2019. I will continue to raise funds for the Get Ahead Charitable Trust, and await 28 April, 2019 with great excitement.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Another update. 8 March. [/p][p][br][/p][p]I tripped (while training) and tore my hamstring at the end of January. Slow to repair, I am not fit to run and so the charity has graciously agreed to let me run in 2019. I am so sad. I was so excited to run this year. I hold on to my promise to Ralph for another 12 months and will run in his honour in 2019. In the meantime, the fundraising continues. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Update at 8 February. [/p][p]It is with great sadness that I update my story to share that Ralph died on 20 January. He will be with me in my thoughts every step of the 26 miles on 22 April.[/p][p][br][/p][p]For my friend Wendy and my friend Ralph. Wendy was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2009, and is now cancer free. Ralph, a dear colleague of mine is currently fighting for his life. [/p][p]If you know me you will know that I run for causes. I run for health. I run for happiness. It is what I can do to raise funds for charities that support friends like Wendy and Ralph. The GetAhead Charity supported Wendy through her illness, and she now serves on the Board. For me, this is my way to say thank you for having Wendy here with us. It is my way to support the programs that help patients to live a fulfilled life through services, aids and emotional support. The GetAhead charity offers many such supports for those dealing with head and neck diseases (Including cancer). [/p][p]I can't wait to participate in the greatest Charity Run of all. There is nothing like the London Marathon. I can't wait to be greeted by Wendy at the finish line.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
