Team story

[p]Running for T21 - We did it![/p][p]On 11th May a wonderful team of family and friends took part in the monster challenge 'The Rat Race' at Burghley House, running up to 20 miles and overcoming 200 obstacles to raise money for a new charity T21. Completing the course took over 5 hours and we faced some serious challenges. Apart from some impressive bruises and some very stiff limbs we all made it to the end without too much drama. Thanks to the support that we have received from so many incredibly generous people we have already raised more than half our target amount and we are hopeful that we may yet achieve our goal.[/p][p]T21 (Trisomy 21 is the scientific name for Down Syndrome) is going to be a cafe with a special identity, serving a rural environment and becoming a place where young adults with disabilities can put into practice the skills they have learnt at college. We are striving to improve the lives of young people with Down Syndrome by giving them a place to work - a job that is meaningful and gives a sense of pride and purpose. [/p][p]We are ambitious for the scope of what this could become and once established the possibilities are multifold. Our dream property is a beautiful but rather tired stone barn on the outskirts of Stamford which we could lease. The refurbishment and restoration of this property will be a big project but it will be worth it, we could establish a kitchen garden, offer car-washing, open a village shop and create so many opportunities for the young adults.[/p][p]Please do continue to support us any way you can...Everyone deserves a break - some just need it more than others.[/p][p]Please look at our website: - www.t21.org.uk [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
