My story

[p]3 years ago I most certainly "didn't run". At all. Not even for a bus. However, over the past three years I have succumbed to peer pressure, and now appear to quite enjoy running. So in a moment of madness I thought I'd set myself the challenge of running a marathon. Which seemed like a good idea at the time. [/p][p]Now, as one of the "lucky ones" who has a place in the London Marathon, I'm terrified. Truly terrified - I don't think my legs are made to carry me 26 miles in a day without help. I'm hoping that the training will remedy this. [/p][p]One thing I count myself extremely lucky with is my health - at least my legs have the chance to see if they can manage the 26.2 miles. As many of you will know, I'm working in the field of multiple sclerosis, trying to discover why young people get this incurable disease. MS is the most common acquired non-traumatic cause of disability in young people, and it tends to progress duing an individuals' lifetime. People can no longer count on being able to run in 6 months time. The MS Trust do amazing work for people with MS at all stages of the disease. [/p][p]So please, dig deep! Even if you are not keen to support me, or think that I have totally lost my marbles, your money is going to support a truly wonderful charity (and I know - I have seen the work they do!), and every penny counts. [/p][p]Thank you![/p][p][/p][p]Ruth[/p]
