[p]I've had some crazy ideas in my time. This is probably up there with the best / worst of them...[/p] [p]Nevertheless, I'm sticking to it and in 2012 *breathes deeply, swallows hard* I'll be taking on the 3-3-3(000) challenge. That's 3 marathons, in 3 months in a bid to raise £3,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.[/p] [p]So why am I doing this?[/p] [p]Last year so many people kindly helped me raise some serious cash when I ran the Paris Marathon. I thought if I was coming back round with my begging bowl I needed to up my game somewhat.[/p] [p]Every single penny raised will be going to Pancreatic Cancer UK. Many of you are aware why, but for those that aren't, here's the deal. At the end of January 2011 the Walters family had their world turned upside down somewhat when my Mum, Fi, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.[/p] [p]Only 3% of those diagnosed survive beyond five years. One year on Fi's still very much with us having stood up against sleepless nights during chemo and spent days in bed throughout a radiotherapy course feeling like she'd been hit by a bus. Give me a marathon (or three) to run over that horrificness any day. Nevertheless, that treatment, funded by the likes of Pancreatic Cancer UK, has kept her fighting (and nagging me....) that bit longer. [/p] [p]All your kind donations will be put towards helping Pancreatic Cancer UK in their plight to double the survival rate for patients in five years. [/p] [p]I know everyone always writes this bit but it comes straight from a very genuine heart when I say even the smallest donation can help make a huge difference and I am so grateful for all your support.[/p] [p]There’s gonna be one heck of a party when it’s all over, I promise. And rest assured I’ll be sharing serious champagne love with all sponsors![/p] [p]Ruth x[/p] [p][/p] [p]In case you want to read a bit more...[/p] [p][/p] [p]About the 3 marathons[/p] [p][/p] [p]London, April 22nd - The one I have always wanted to run. I plan to set a record for the number of supporters a girl can high five across 26.2 miles[/p] [p][/p] [p]Edinburgh, May 27th - I heard a rumour it's a 6km downhill start (hopes, prays this is the case...) and I'm training hard to hit a 4:30 PB over the course[/p] [p][/p] [p]Cheltenham, June 24th - Yip, they apparently do have an 'ultra' marathon. Well, ultra in the sense the course appears to go through hills, dales and be slightly longer than 42.195km... Not the easiest way to finish up this personal challenge but I'll crawl it if I have to.[/p]
