My story

[p]Emily our daughter (aged 7) and her Daddy (Daniel) are planning to walk up Cadair Idris in Snowdonia and wild camp for the night. Please help in sponsoring them to help raise money for a fantastic charity that benefits patients who are suffering from haematological cancers. I work within the haematology department at the Christie hospital. We care for patients over the age of 16 who have a diagnosis of a haematological malignancy. This could be diseases such as Leukaemia, Myeloma and Lymphoma. Very often patients have weeks, and months of gruelling treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and stem cell transplants. Our patients can have multiple hospital visits, including weeks of inpatient admissions.[/p][p]HaTs is an independent charity, whose overriding objective is to provide and improve upon the support and care provided to patients and families of the Palatine Ward and Haematology Day Unit situated in The Christie Hospital.[/p][p]Originally known as ALUPAL, the charity, celebrating 30 years of existence in 2016, helps patients and their families overcome some of the day to day challenges they encounter when faced with life threatening illnesses and periods of isolation. Whilst recognising the excellent clinical care and support provided by the Palatine Ward and Haematology Day Unit,[/p][p]HaTS also recognises that sometimes patients and their families need that little extra support which is often outside of the NHS resources.[/p][p]The funds raised by HaTS are used to provide financial assistance to those patients and carers experiencing difficulties. The funds also help to improve the service provided on the unit, mainly by providing Complementary Therapies to patients and carers alike. These therapies help with the physical and emotional effects experienced as a result of a cancer diagnosis.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
