My story

[p]Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.[/p][p]To honour what would have been Sir Captain Tom Moore's 101st Birthday the Camphill Blair Drummond Community is going to walk 100 laps of our own garden, Tourmaline Lawn. We will be raising money as part of our Sports and Recreation Centre Appeal. [/p][p]Camphill Blair Drummond is a unique Community in rural central Scotland where both our residents and day students with learning disabilities are supported to be involved in meaningful activities and have opportunities for personal development.[/p][p]It has been a tough year for everybody but our community has continued to flourish during the COVID19 Pandemic. This challenge will a fantastic way for our community to get together (whilst remaining in our established bubbles!) and celebrate the inspiring fundraising efforts of Captain Tom with our own challenge. [/p][p]Between our residents, students and staff we will collectively walk 100 lengths of our lawn which runs the length of the castle at the very heart of our community! All proceeds will go towards our drive for a new Sports & Recreation Centre:[/p][p]Sports & Recreation Centre - Camphill Blair Drummond[/p][p]Our centre will have a multi-purpose area for yoga, boccia, football, basketball, badminton, table tennis and dance. It will also have a separate gym and a climbing wall is on our wish list. [/p][p]Once the Sports and Recreation Centre is built, we’ll be able to offer support to new day students who can join in organised physical activity sessions at Camphill Blair Drummond.[/p][p]Taking part in sports has a huge impact on the wellbeing of our residents and day students – it’s not just about mobility and fitness, it helps build relationships and promote mental wellbeing. More than just an activity centre, it will also give us a vibrant social space which will make a big difference to our residents, day students and our international volunteers.[/p][p]We are now asking for your support, even the smallest amount would help our community greatly to meet our target and allow Camphill Blair Drummond to thrive and flourish in the future.[/p][p]Thank you[/p]
