My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page for the 2019 London Legal Walk.[/p][p]Our team is: Sue Shutter, Mike Lucy, Kirsty Ka Po Kwok and John Plummer[/p][p]We are raising funds for Slough Immigration Aid Unit and all funds raised on this page will be donated by LLST to the Unit without deduction.[/p][p]Slough Immigration Aid Unit (SIAU) is a small charity giving specialist legal advice and representation in all areas of UK immigration, refugee and nationality law. SIAU is a registered charity and is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner.[/p][p]SIAU provides legal advice, assistance and representation to people who live, work or study in Slough and neighbouring areas, and their families, who have difficulties with UK immigration, nationality or refugee law. SIAU also advises on the rights of EEA nationals and their families - a growth area of work![/p][p]SIAU provides a free service to people on low incomes and who would have qualified financially for legal aid. Where people’s income or savings are too high to qualify, SIAU works on a cost recovery basis, meaning there is a fee to cover costs only; SIAU does not make any profit.[/p][p]The funds needed for the service are getting scarcer, and legal aid for most immigration work has been cut. Complex and restrictive immigration rules, and the effects of the EU referendum and Brexit mean the need for advice and help is very high.[/p][p]Please support us as generously as you are able[/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
