[p]UPDATE OCTOBER 2020: As the final 6 miles in Brighton (The Edit) ended up being cancelled due to covid-19, I completed it virtually on Saturday 17th :) as I wanted a bit more of a challenge, I decided to do a Marathon Triathlon and completed 26 miles by cycling 14 miles and rowing (on a rowing machine) 6 miles, as well as the run :D thank you so much for your support and sponsorship! And thank you for caring about farm animals :) [/p][p][br][/p][p]AUGUST 2020:[/p][p]Welcome to my fundraising page! Thanks for stopping by :)[/p][p]What a crazy year it's been! The Brighton Marathon event, which usually takes place in April, was postponed until September 20th due to covid-19. The event has now had to be tweaked slightly and moved again to the later date of October 11th (the first 20 miles of the run are to be completed 'virtually' on a date and time of the runners choosing, and then the last 6 miles will be completed in Brighton on the 11th October).[/p][p]I will be running my 20 miles on Sunday 20th September, when the postponed event would have been held. This date also would have been my Grandad Reg's 96th birthday, but he very sadly passed away earlier this year, therefore, it would be nice to run in his memory. [/p][p]I am fundraising for Compassion in World Farming, who are an animal welfare charity that, since the 1960s, have been working tirelessly to improve the treatment and lives of animals farmed for food both in the UK and internationally. Their mission, through campaigning for public awareness and support, lobbying governments, and working with food businesses and organisations, is to end the use of factory and intensive farming methods (which are so prevalent and incredibly cruel), in favour of organic, higher welfare, pre-industrial practices.[/p][p]Their current campaigns show how wide ranging the issues are within factory farming, and just how horrendously the animals are treated: End the Cage Age, Ban Live Exports, Rethink Fish, Honest Labelling, Save Our Antibiotics.[/p][p]https://www.ciwf.org.uk/[/p][p]On top of these problems, more and more research is emerging that intensive animal agriculture is one of the main factors driving climate change, water and air pollution, human health problems, and the extinction risk of huge numbers of animal species.[/p][p]By sponsoring me, you will be contributing to shaping a world where farm animals are treated with care and compassion, where human health is protected, and where the natural world is respected. [/p][p]Thank you soooooo much! :)[/p]
