[p]Samaritans are turning to pedal power to raise money by holding a one-day distance cycling challenge at London’s Liverpool Street station on Tuesday 31 March.[/p][p]Samaritans and Greater Anglia, the train company which runs services from the east of England into Liverpool Street, will be encouraging riders on the static bikes in the station to clock up 365 miles in 12 hours.[/p][p]Network Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia staff, alongside other colleagues from the industry will be on the bikes at Liverpool Street and aim to cover the miles in record time.[/p][p]The goal of 365 miles was chosen to represent Samaritans’ commitment to providing a service round the clock, every day of the year, for anyone who is struggling.[/p][p]Samaritans volunteers will be raising awareness of the service among commuters at rush hour at 30 stations which feed into Liverpool Street from Norfolk and Suffolk, through Cambridgeshire and Essex, into the capital. Volunteers will be present at stations either at peak travel times, or at some stations during the day.[/p][p]Samaritans regional marketing officer Colin Stuart said: “We want everyone to know that Samaritans is there for anyone who needs to talk about whatever is getting to them.
