My story

[p]London Marathon 2019[/p][p]I am happy to announce that on the 28th April 2019, I successfully ran and completed the Virgin Money London Marathon. It was one of the greatest days of my life. In four months I completed 362 miles of running and core/strength training. It saw me complete the marathon on a very strong note and donations are still being made which I am very much grateful for.[/p][p]I am now keeping a blog open online called Running with ME on Facebook, and a page on Instagram where I post photographs and videos of my training, marathon day and my journey with ME/CFS.[/p][p]I hope to see you there soon.[/p][p]Best Wishes [/p][p]Sara [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]My Story[/p][p]Almost 12 years ago, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Myalgic = characteristic muscle symptoms. Encephalopathy = significant disorder of brain function, or M.E. as it's known. One day, I woke, got out of bed and I fell. My legs were numb, my knees were tightened and painful. For months I could not walk and I was left bedridden. Being diagnosed with ME/CFS shook my world. I was always so active, working daily and I traveled extensively. I underwent medical examinations and slowly, I started to regain feeling in my legs again, and the fatigue reduced. I was always active prior to the illness, so I tried to focus on the positive note that I will be able to do all the things I wanted to do or previously did. The condition will always be with me to a lesser or greater degree. Then in 2016, I suffered Hyperemesis Gravidarum. A serious, debilitating life threatening condition in pregnancy. When I was given the news that I was accepted for the London Marathon in early January I was overjoyed. This is a chance for me to raise money for a hardworking, compassionate local charity; and I hope to show anyone that has experienced similar problems in life to never give up on your goals. I am running for those who can't run, for those who are suffering right now and for my 2 year old daughter together with all those baby survivors of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Here’s a little more about the SPECIAL charity that I am running for:-[/p][p]Down's Heart Group, Dunstable, South Bedfordshire. Registered charity. [/p][p]Director, Penny Green, in loving memory of Daniel[/p][p]On her birthday, Penny Green gave birth to a little boy with Down syndrome called Daniel. But sadly baby Daniel only lived for a 100 days. Penny, the Director of Down's Heart Group pushes the charity to help so many families. Penny has been described by the founder of the Down's charity as wonderful, and compares Penny to an olympic torch, always trying to keep the flame going. She is raising awareness continuously throughout the UK and worldwide. [/p][p]Her drive, her enthusiasm, her dedication has kept this charity going for more than 20 years. [/p][p]An estimate of 47% of babies born with Down's Syndrome also have congenital heart problems. Down's Heart Group provides parent friendly support and information to their families to enable them to make informed decisions about their child’s future. [/p][p]They support families every step of the way throughout life, being available as needed. The staff and the majority of volunteers and trustees have direct links with someone who has Down's Syndrome and heart problems and they use their considerable personal experience to benefit other families. Every donation is valuable to them and has helped to continue the work that they do for over 20 years, supporting a better life for people with Down's Syndrome and being there whenever they are needed. Please find it in your heart to kindly help a little child, or a family going through their struggle. [/p][p]The Down's Heart Group is based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. https://dhg.org.uk/[/p][p]You can follow my progress on these social media platforms[/p][p]'RunningiwthME' Facebook a new page, chat with me, view photos, follow my progress, and more.[/p][p]'Saraelisalowe' Instagram.[/p][p]Please help me achieve the dream to run for this wonderful local charity on the 28th April 2019 in London. Your amazing kindness and generosity will be warmly appreciated. [/p][p]Thank you.[/p][p]Sara x[/p][p]Enc.
