[p]Why I'm doing this (the important bit!)[/p][p]So, you've found yourself at my fundraising page, raising much needed funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust by running the Virgin London Marathon in 2018. [/p][p]Ectopic Pregnancy is a common, life threatening condition that is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK and women who suffer have to face the physical trauma of major invasive treatment, their own mortality, the impact on their future fertility and the sad loss of losing their baby all very quickly. This can be a very frightening and distressing experience.[/p][p]Unfortunately our first pregnancy in early 2011 turned out to be that of a "pregnancy of unknown location", more commonly known as an ectopic. Two months of treatment/follow up tests and appointments followed and during that time I used the EPT website a lot for advice and support through their forums.[/p][p]Which is why I will run those 26.2 miles, in memory of our and close friends lost babies to support others who have suffered from early pregnancy loss and complications and also the amazing health professionals who care for them.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Much love,[/p][p]Sx[/p][p]Training update weeks 5-8 (February)[/p][p]130 miles over 18 runs! Longest run 17 miles, shortest 5k. Suffering from the everlasting lurgy which meant I missed some runs. Getting there![/p][p]Training update Weeks 1-4 (January)[/p][p]For those of you are interested! If not skip to the important stuff below! Well my training plan kicked in on New Year's Day and in the 4 weeks since then I've run 117 miles, over 19 runs which averages 6.15 miles per run! Longest run 14 miles, shortest 5k. All seems to be going ok so far despite the wind, rain, snow, ice and anything else the weather gods fancy throwing at me![/p][p]How your donation helps:[/p][p]£5 enables the EPT to send out seven leaflets to seven people and provide them with valuable information.[/p][p]£15 enables the EPT to operate their Helpline service for one hour.[/p][p]£100 will help the EPT to run their invaluable website for a week.[/p][p]Thank you so much for your generosity and support.[/p][p]Sx[/p]
