[lt]h2[gt][span=color: #993300;]10km swim +13km run[/span][lt]/h2[gt][lt]h3[gt][span=color: #0000ff;][lt]span style="color: #ff9900;"[gt]Well I guess this is kind of real now, since I've entered and started training! YIKES....[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/h3[gt][lt]h2[gt][span=color: #0000ff;]What I'm doing?[/span][lt]/h2[gt][p]I think the answer to this question can be summed up by 'something that will challenge the crap out of me'. 2016 will be my year of swimming and running for a cause close to my heart (indeed, probably closer than I'd like!)[/p][p]Sashquathlon 2016 will culminate in swimming the Dart 10k then donning trainers to run 8 miles back up-river (on land obviously) to the start. To the event organisers' knowledge, no-one has done that before. [/p][p]My training will include a number of events on the river Thames, in the Cotswold lakes and further afield. [/p][p]I want to prove to myself that I can do this, and to raise a massive amount of money (hopefully) in the process for two incredible organisations.[/p][lt]h3[gt][span=color: #0000ff;]What can you do to help?[/span][lt]/h3[gt] [p]Donate LOADS A MONEY!!! Or even a wee bit. And if you're not in the position to donate, your support and encouragement throughout the next 6 months will mean a huge amount. [/p][p]I've been lucky enough to be selected for a special charity package from South West Swim (thanks to Jason et al) which includes proper open water coaching. Plus I have the fab Steven and Donna at Swimpodium for pool-based training. So basically, I have NO excuse to be rubbish!![/p][lt]h3[gt][span=color: #0000ff;]Where the money will go?[/span][lt]/h3[gt][p]All of the donation to the Southmead Hospital Charity will go directly to the Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis facility (BrAMS) which is part of the Brain Centre (great name!). I know first hand how awesome this facility is, from the insanely dedicated nurses, to the neurologists, to the research, to the treatment, to the cool cafe in the waiting area! It is an NHS facility but they also heavily rely on charitable donations.[/p][p]The other part of the money I raise will go to the MS Society who provide information, support, and truly participatory programme of research where they really put people affected by MS at the heart of everything they do. [/p][p][/p][hr/][p][/p][lt]h4[gt][span=font-weight: normal;]I'm sure I'll add updates to this page as I go along the way, but for now: [/span][span=color: #0000ff;]thank you SO much in advance. Catch me in the water or on a trail somewhere soon....![/span][lt]/h4[gt][p][/p][lt]h4[gt]The official bit[lt]/h4[gt][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
