My story

[p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]UPDATE:[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Job Done! Our 15th Great North Run completed! A very warm day resulting in sunburnt shoulders for Louise and a very red head for Sean ;-) However, despite the heat Sean still managed a PB and Louise (running with a migraine - not ideal!) was only 4 minutes slower than last year, so both of us pleased with our performances.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]As usual your constant support kept us both going and we have raised a fantastic amount so far, but we are hoping to surpass our original target once all who have pledged hit the donation button. So a big thank you to everyone who has already donated and to those about to :-)[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]We personally know two families who have been helped and supported by Macmillan Cancer Support in the most distressing circumstances, and your money will ensure that Macmillan can continue to help other families deal with cancer.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]We’ve been saying this for 15 years, but it’s true, you are all amazing people who really do change lives and without which there really would be no point us running.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Thank you all so much for your continued support.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Sean & Louise xxx[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p][p]Hi All[/p] [lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt]Oh no, it’s nearly here! Our 15[sup]th[/sup] consecutive Great North Run is on Sunday 13[sup]th[/sup] September and this year we are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of our friend Tina’s beloved mum, Sandra, who sadly lost her brave battle in June.[/p] [p]During this most difficult time it took a while for Tina’s family to make contact with Macmillan, but they are full of praise for the help and support they did receive, particularly from the local Macmillan nurse they dealt with, the nurses at the Macmillan Cancer Centre at Macclesfield Hospital and the helpline for all the other stuff like benefits and a disabled badge.[/p] [p]Louise briefly worked for the Macmillan Appeal Office at Macclesfield Hospital in 2003. Their sole purpose was to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Centre there, so it is particularly nice for her to hear that the Centre helped Tina and her family in some small way during such a stressful and worrying time.[/p] [p]Macmillan Cancer Support believes no one should face cancer alone. Everyone needs someone to turn to right from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. And, as treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer on a daily basis, meaning more medical, practical, emotional and financial help is needed. Macmillan provides that help, whilst also pushing for better cancer care. They provide nurses, therapists and dieticians helping people through treatment, someone on the end of the phone to chat to who understands, the welfare rights advisers advising on financial matters, the campaigners pushing for better cancer care, the volunteers helping with everyday things, the community supporting each other online and the fundraisers (that’s all of us guys!) that make it all possible…[/p] [p]Yes we’re saying it again, so far you’ve helped us raise thousands of pounds for charities over the last 14 years, but we’re running again, so let’s make a difference again.[/p] [p]Virgin Money Giving is 100% not for profit.  Your donations will be quickly processed and passed to Macmillan Cancer Support and any gift aid will be claimed on the charity's behalf where eligible (if you’re a tax payer that means another 25% goes to the Charity).[/p] [p]Thank you for your continued generosity no matter how big or small.[/p] [p]Sean & Louise xxx[/p]
