Team story

[p]"FOR A RURAL AFGHAN FAMILY, YOUR DONATION TO OUR LONDON MARATHON EFFORT COULD MEAN CLEAN WATER, MORE FOOD, PROTECTION FROM NATURAL DISASTERS. IT COULD MEAN A YOUNG WOMAN GETS AN EDUCATION AND THE CHANCE TO START HER OWN BUSINESS. GIVING HER FAMILY A BETTER LIFE" [/p][p][/p][p]WHO WE ARE:[/p][p]We a team of 10 teachers, staff and students from Sedbergh School. We are not pro-marathon runners although we may have been focibly made to run up the hills that surround our peaceful, safe and privileged school. We are all making the effort over the next few months to get marathon fit (enough) and raise some money for this wonderful charity.[/p][p]Afganaid[/p][p]Established in 1983, Afghanaid is a humanitarian and development charity that works alongside rural communities in some of the poorest and most isolated areas of the world. They provide training tools enabling them to become active participants in shaping a future for families and communities. [/p][p]They particularily work with women, the elderly and disabled. They have a heavy emphasis on education and training... obvioiusly something we all believe passionately in. [/p][lt]h5[gt][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][lt]/h5[gt][p]WHAT YOUR MONEY CAN BUY:[/p][p]Your donation will not be lost in beaucratic upkeep. Instead this is what your donation could achieve:[/p][p]£10: training sanitation and hygiene training[/p][p]£12: water filter for a family providing clean drinking water[/p][p]£30: bookkeeping training for up to 30 women, empowering them to start their own microbusinesses. [/p][p]£35: fruit trees for an orchard and food for the future. [/p][p]£250: The construction of a proper toilet for a village[/p][p]£320: Literacy, numeracy and vocational training for 5 women[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you very much for your donation. If you are eligible for giftaid please do not forget to add this on. It can make a big difference to the total. [/p][p]Keep track of our training and fundraising efforts on our twitter account @SS_marathon[/p][p][/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities.
