My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]As many of you are aware I was involved in a rather serious mountain biking accident which resulted in me being airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary for the best part of three months in 2015 c/o the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. The flight cost them £1200 but thankfully didn’t cost me a penny.  I decided that I needed to raise some cash to put back in the coffers of that wonderful organisation.  14 months after the accident I completed the Southwell Triathlon and raised a pretty decent £3500 thanks to friends, family and my students.  “Ok so that’s history” I hear you say…  “What’s he after now?”   “What self-publicising stunt is he going to start boring us with next?” [/p][p]Well ladies and gentlemen.  I, like 385,000 other people applied through the ballot to gain a place in the 2018 London Marathon and exhaled a huge sigh of relief when I found out  that I’d been unsuccessful in my daft bid, only to find out  that I’ve been accepted via the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance to run for them.  I have to raise a minimum of £2500 for my place with them and that’s where you come in…[/p][p]Any donation will obviously be gratefully received.  The charity needs the best part of £2.5m per year to keep airborne.  It gets nothing from the government.  IT SAVES PEOPLES LIVES! When I set out that glorious summers day back in June 2015 for a days mountain biking with my 13 year old son I had no concept that I would be having a free trip to Hull c/o the big yellow helicopter. [/p][p]What shocked me was how often I would hear the aircraft land at HRI.  Sometimes twice or three times a day.  It wasn’t just flying patients to Hull but to Leeds and to The Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.  During my stay there I knew personally of two other people whom were patients transported by the LNAA.  What I’m saying is that any of us could be patients on board that. I was. I hope to God none of you are but you could be.  Please help by “digging deep” and sponsoring me. £2500 is a lot of cash I need to bring in.  [/p][p] Thanks in advance[/p][p] [/p][p]Simon :)[/p][p] [/p][p]Simon[/p]
