My story

[p]The 10th Mallorca 312km takes place on the 27th April 2019 as a one day event with 8000 riders at the startline - not everyone completes this mammoth ask with approx 1000 finishers. This pretty Spanish island plays host to some of cycling's most challenging ascends in the World with over 5000 meters of climbs to summit within time restricted zones - each rider must complete set zones inside a strict average speed, otherwise will be swept off the course & event.[/p][p]Becoming aware of the 312 during a brief three day cycle trip last April to Mallorca, I have since found the inspiration to take up the challenge for a great charity; The Royal Marsden - Cancer, who cared for my late father in the 70's and a highly valued member of our staff presently, who are an amazing group of individuals making a huge difference to people's lives daily.[/p][p]Like everything preparation to something as big as this Epic event is an absolute essential and have returned from a full on training week via a former member of The Royal Automobile Club with an ex Olympian professional coach and nutritionist, achieving 402 miles and 30000ft of climbing on two wheels inside 6 days - Gourmet Cycling Club.[/p][p]I hope you can support my positive energy to make a difference for others this coming April - (personal target time is circa 12hours in the saddle and to smash my target for The Royal Marsden)[/p][p][br][/p]

Simon, I have no doubt you can meet this challenge Rather than Sailing the Dream, you are Cycling the Dream. Do it for the team! Marsden, a great hospital, always remembered, they saved the life of our 14 year old son. Well done - Ian
