My story

[p]I said I wouldn't however this is genuinely the last London Marathon for me for the foreseeable future. Last time I knocked 45 minutes off my time to come in at 4:18, this time I am aiming for 3:30 - this may be a stretch too far but I'm going for it...[/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]Really the last time?[/span][/p][p]Yes. This year will be my last year of marathon running so when presented with an opportunity to run the great London Marathon again I couldn't turn it down. It is a huge commitment and my commitments have seen me through injuries, fatigue and more.[/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]Just the London Marathon?[/span][/p][p]Well no. Whilst the London Marathon is the main feature of my fundraising effort I respect the donations previously made and thus once again I'm pushing myself way beyond anything sensible to justify your donations to this great cause. I ran the London 2 Brighton Challenge last year - 57 of those miles on a torn calf (21 hours in total). I took on 4 laps of the Nuts Challenge and suffered excruciating cramps in most of my body on lap 3 which saw me laying on the ground for around 20 minutes just to be able to move again. I took on the Fan Dance with 20kg on my back and suffered in various ways for months after.[/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]And this time?[/span][/p][p]This time I'm going further:[/p][ul][li]I'll run the London 2 Brighton again and target the sub-15 hour time (and hope that I don't tear my calf on mile 5 this time)[/li][li]The Eliminator 24 Hour run - yes, 24 hours non-stop running over terrain which effectively makes it an obstacle course[/li][li]The full 4 laps Nuts Challenge again - yes, trying to avoid the ridiculous cramps this time. Most fit people only tend to manage 1-2 laps - try it if you don't believe me![/li][li]If I am uninjured after all this I will attempt "Judgement Day - The Unknown". Google it. Their aim is to break you mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically so that you don't cross the finish line. As you can see from my previous efforts I don't give up easily![/li][/ul][p]It makes the London Marathon seem all too easy (which it really isn't!). These are just the highlight events of many more (including the Fan Dance again without the load as a speed run over the highest peak in South Wales - Pen Y Fan).[/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]The point of all this...[/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]The Children's Trust really is a worthy charity for children with brain injury. Their amazing work cannot be over stated yet their only funding is from donations so every penny counts. I am throwing everything I can into this and I ask you to do what you can to support me and my fundraising effort for them also. Think of it as paying to see me suffer! [/span][/p]
