My story

[p]I’ve always wanted to run a marathon. It’s one of those things that has been lingering on my bucket list for a few years now and I’ve never had the opportunity to do it, until now... [/p][p]To offer your support, help out an awesome charity (Embrace Child Victims of Crime), and to be in with a chance of winning a case of premium Chilean wine (courtesy of Volcanes), please read on![/p][p]Some of you may not know that part of my job involves technology for UK policing and border security. Hence I have a strong connection to and respect for the emergency services. It was through my work that I was fortunate enough to meet Anne and Chloe from Embrace Child Victims of Crime (Embrace CVOC) and we got talking about their charity and what they do.[/p][p]Embrace CVOC is a great charity that works tirelessly to support children, young people and families who are victims of serious crime. They help them cope with what has happened, support their recovery and provide services that enable them to put events behind them, move on and fulfil their life’s potential.[/p][p]They work with law enforcement agencies and safeguarding professionals to provide a range of emotional, practical, specialist and cheer-up support services which make a big difference in brightening young people’s lives after the devastating effects of crime. [/p][p]Whatever is needed to help a child cope with what has happened, recover and move on, that is what they aim to deliver. Check out their website for more info:[/p][p]https://embracecvoc.org.uk[/p][p]My conversation with Anne and Chloe came onto to the London Marathon. As luck would have it, they had a space free, and they were kind enough to offer it to me (also in return for a healthy fundraising target, of course!).[/p][p]I’m 40 in 2020, and for me running the Marathon is a perfect way to celebrate this milestone! I’ve now got two young kids of my own - Dora and Billy - and I can’t think of a better charity to run for to give something back to support some of the most vulnerable children affected by serious crime.[/p][p]So, over to you… Embrace CVOC need funds to continue their amazing work across the UK, particularly given the depletion of public social care and mental health services over the last few years. Please give generously! Every pound donated here really does make a difference.[/p][p]And, to spur you on, all donations of £20 and over will automatically enter you into a draw to: [/p][p]Win a case of Premium Chilean Wine, courtesy of Volcanes. [/p][p]Check them out here: http://volcanesdechile.com[/p][p]And if you can’t wait for the prize draw, don’t worry. The Volcanes range and other great wines from around the world are available for shipment to any UK address from www.connoisseurestates.co.uk[/p][p]Every additional £10 towards the cause will give you another entry into draw (i.e. £30 = 2 entries, £50 = 4 entries etc.). The draw will be made live on my instagram (@flavatown) after the London Marathon on the 26th April. When making your donation, please tick the box to share your email with me so I can include you in the draw.[/p][p]Thank you so much. See you at the finish line :-)[/p][p]Simon[/p][p]P.S. Regarding Gift Aid: note that the wine draw is not an official company endorsed raffle, think of it more as a gift from me! So please tick ALL boxes accordingly so that gift aid is added to your donation.[/p]
