Team story

[p]On the 17th June 2018 The Kemp sisters (Amanda, Natalie & Zoe) will be taking part in the London to Brighton cycling challenge. This is a 54 mile bike ride from Clapham Common to Brighton. It will be a great opportunity for us 3 sisters to share this experience together as well as supporting a very worthy charity that is close to our hearts "Liberty's Legacy" [/p][p]We are riding as "The Sisters Cycling South" with the aim to raise money towards Liberty’s Legacy. This is a special fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust raising vital funds for life saving research into Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and very aggressive form of bone cancer, as Liberty, a very good friend of Zoe's daughter Maddie, sadly lost her battle last year from this type of cancer.[/p][p]We would be very grateful if you would consider donating towards this extremely worthy cause. [/p][p]Liberty's family have written a moving and very touching piece, which is below; -[/p][p]After a courageous 13 month battle with cancer, our beloved daughter, Liberty Grace, sadly gained her angel wings on October 11th 2017, just 2 weeks after celebrating her 14th birthday.[/p][p]Liberty was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in September 2016, on her 13th birthday. It is a rare and very aggressive form of bone cancer.[/p][p]During her gruelling treatment, Liberty was an absolute inspiration to us all, she just got on with it in typical Libs fashion, rarely loosing her amazing and oh so cheeky sense of humour, that dazzling smile for which she will forever be remembered, rarely slipping from her face. We could not have been more proud.[/p][p]Sadly just days from finishing treatment in August 2017, Liberty discovered a new lump and we received the news we had forever dreaded. Not only had the Ewing's returned, but devastatingly it had extensively spread throughout her lungs, her liver and her lymph glands. There was nothing more that could be done.[/p][p]But still she fought on with that fierce determination that she was so known for, opting for yet more chemotherapy to try and extend her life. But the cancer was just too aggressive, the tumour burden too great, her now tiny frame just too weak.[/p][p]It was during these last few weeks that the idea for Liberty's Legacy was born. Throughout the course of her illness Liberty's biggest frustration and indeed ours was the total lack of funding and research into this deadly form of the disease. The protocol with which she was treated was decades old, designed for adults, and sadly survival rates for Ewing's have not improved in over 30 years. How could this be?[/p][p]Liberty's greatest wish was therefore that we fundraise in her name, with all proceeds to go towards research into Ewing's, so that no other child need suffer in the same way and no other family be devastatingly ripped apart. Through Liberty's Legacy, we hope that her name will live on and allow us to bring Liberty into the future with us, and give honour and meaning to her life.[/p][p]To date with the help of family, her friends and the wider community we have raised over £50,000 through various fundraising activities including Auctions, Raffles, Cake Sales, Dance Shows, Charity Runs, Head Shaves, Cinema Screenings and Netball Tournaments. We hope Liberty would be proud of what we have achieved so far but so much more needs to be done and we need your help. Liberty and so many just like her had so much to give and deserve so much more. We greatly value any contribution or support you can give, however large or small, as together we can make a difference, until there is a cure.[/p][p]Fly high baby girl, you will never be forgotten, you were and still are so loved and are so deeply missed, more than you will ever know.[/p][p]We never thought it would be our child either, until it was.[/p][p][br][/p]
