Team story

[p]A team from our parish churches in Nursling and Rownhams will be supporting the Ride and Stride this year. Do support us by donating - half the donation goes to main fund, and half to support the on going maintenance of our two historic churches St Boniface Nursling and St. Johns Rownhams on the west side of Southampton.[/p][p]The team are Andy, Jacob, Mike, Jen and Jonathan. We are looking forward to cycling around some beautiful churches in the New Forest, and raising funds for the Ride and Stride charity. [/p][p]Here is an update from the ride.[/p][p]We visited 10 churches - Netley Marsh, Copythorne, Minstead, Emery Down, Lyndhurst, Marchwood, Eling, Testwood, Nursling & Rownhams. Our route (see below) was 36 miles in 4 hours 31 minutes cycling, but with stops took us just over 6 hours. We were blessed with perfect weather, and some great insights into other churches in our area. Most churches were closed, but we did visit the grave of Sherlock Holmes author Conan Doyle in Minstead - with a 'pipe on the grave stone; Lyndhurst we met Rev David Potterton the vicar who gave us a brief look inside this amazing church. Our route home through the forest to Marchwood gave us great views towards Toot Hill, and in Totton before visiting Testwood church we had an ice cream eating competition - Jacob, Jonathan & Mike 2 each, Andy and Jen 1 each - well they do come in packs of 4 from Asda! And so the final leg to Nursling church where we met John Sofrin, and then onto Rownhams to end a great time together. [/p][p]Mike, Andy, Jacob and André are also preparing for a repeat of their Boniface bike ride to Dokkum in Holland when the Covid situation improves. Well done Team ! Great work and an absolute pleasure to have done the ride with you on a lovely sunny day through a beautiful part of the world. This sponsorship is paying for what was pledged on a form at the church by myself.
