My story

[p]I am hugely honoured, excited and slightly nervous to be part of an 'all ladies' team climbing 3 peaks in 3 countries in 3 days. Together we are raising funds for Child Bereavement UK. A charity that's very close to my heart. [/p][p]Easter 1987, April 15th around 6.30pm to be precise, my life changed forever. It was a hot Easter during school holidays, I still remember the smell of the air, what I wore, what we were playing and my last wave good bye to my best friend Sharon. I was 12 years old and Sharon 11, she was so looking forward to turning 12 in just under 2 weeks. Sadly Sharon was tragically killed that day. We had played all afternoon and she only nipped home to have her dinner. With a promise of return in an hour I waved goodbye to her at the end of the garden. Not knowing that would be the last time I would ever see her. [/p][p]Sharon had to cross a dual carriageway to get home. Horrifically on her return walking back to our house she was killed by a motorbike. Sharon did everything she was taught and waited at the pavement. The motorcyclist had stolen the bike and was driving at high speed when he lost control and hit Sharon as she waited to cross. [/p][p]I lost my best friend that day. Our school friends lost their friend and most heartbreaking her family, Mum Janice, Dad Malcom and brother David lost their daughter. To this day I still cannot comprehend what they went through. For me the most traumatic time of my life. At school we had no support. After her funeral we were to continue life as normal. I am left with anxiety, guilt and an ongoing fear of losing my own children. [/p][p]However I continued to grow, learn, travel and have children of my own but my beautiful Sharon didn't. What about her parents and brother. How did they cope. In fact I don't think they coped. There was no support. In 1987 there was no Child bereavement UK. Now there is. An amazing charity that supports children bereaved who has lost a parent and parents who have lost a child.[/p][p]Child Bereavement UK are celebrating 25 years this year. Created 7 years after we lost Sharon, she would have turned 18 that year. [/p][p]Please help us raise much needed funds for parents and families like Sharon's. As parents ourselves, the thought of losing one of our children or for them to lose a parent is just unbearable but sadly it happens every day and leaves families lives shattered. I have been so lucky to meet so many families that have been supported by Child Bereavement UK and have seen the amazing difference that the charity makes in helping them to rebuild their forever changed lives.[/p][p]Please help by donating....On each day of our challenge we will summit a different peak in a new country, including; Testa Della Tronche, Italy (2,581m), Bel Oiseau, Switzerland (2,628m) and Aiguilette de Posettes, France (2,201). Over the three days we will be reaching combined altitudes of 7,410 meters (24,311 feet).[/p][p]Thank you so so much[/p][p]Much Love[/p][p]Stacey xxx[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
