[p]Once upon a time in a land that time forgot, there were four old codgers. However decrepit they were, their hearts were made of gold. For the last 6 years they cycled the lands far and wide (over 575 miles) to raise money for charities. Our stoic athletes (!) are: Ray Sothcott, Miguel Werneck, Mahmoud Ageli & of course the veteran team leader, Steve Bradley.[/p][p][br][/p][p]This year the fundraising monies donated to the ExtraMile Challenge will be split between the following 4 worthy charities:[/p][p][br][/p][p][b][i]Willen Hospice - Registered Charity No. 270194 - www.willen-hospice.org.uk[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Wheel Power - Registered Charity No. 265498 - www.wheelpower.org.uk[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Bedford Charity Hospital - Registered Charity No. 299250 - www.bedfordhospitalcharity.org.uk[/i][/b][/p][p][b][i]Camphill Milton Keynes Communities - Registered Charity No. 283556 - www.camphillmk.co.uk[/i][/b][/p][p][br][/p][p]Last year, (thanks to our kind-hearted sponsors) we have nearly reached the halfway stage of this fabulous goal. We are fundraising to buy a much needed 'rickshaw' for our friends at 'Camphill MK Communities'.[/p][p]The rickshaw will prove invaluable. It will enable the 80 residents with a physical / learning disability or autism to participate in this pleasurable outdoor cycling event, along with their more able-bodied friends within the local community. Communal outdoor cycling promotes a feeling of inclusivity along with a sense of achievement. [/p][p]Health and wellbeing is an important part of everyone's lives and the community runs a regular cycling workshop during the warmer months of the year. Camphill Milton Keynes would love to make this activity open to all people with physical and age-related disabilities.
