My story

[p]Hello! And thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page... (which has now surpassed my original target - THANK YOU!!!!) [/p][p]So it's ECHO's 35th birthday and it's the final week of my 35th year - what a coincidence! I'm going to be zipping from 35 metres high, along London's longest and fastest zip line... this isn't much of a challenge for many people, but for me (as those of you who know me well will be aware) this is a HUGE challenge. Not only do I avoid all rollercoaster/theme park rides, I have only ever been on one zip wire before (one where I could touch the floor because it was in a children's play area!!). [/p][p]So why put myself through it? Well... First of all ECHO are amazing. They support the families and children who have heart conditions at The Evelina, St Thomas' Hospital. They provide special antenatal classes specifically for the parents who are going to be giving birth to heart babies and they provide a great communication link and supportive network when heart babies and children are going through some of the most challenging times of their lives. I also found out recently that as a small charity, they get very little help from anywhere other than supporters' fundraising. Our help is so important to them! Stu and I felt so supported by ECHO and the team at The Evelina, we want to help other expectant parents to get the same experience we did.[/p][p]Secondly... the zip wire is across Archbishop's Park, right next to St Thomas' hospital. The last time I walked through this park was 18 months ago when I was travelling to and from the hospital to visit Josh after his surgery. This park brings back a lot of emotional memories, so time to add some more! In fact, the final time we walked through it was with an empty pram - taking it to the hospital to finally get discharged and bring Joshie home.[/p][p]So help boost my confidence and help me reach my fundraising target... and if you want a reward for your donation come and join us at the park to watch too! It'd be great to see you there.[/p][p]Thanks :)[/p]
