My story

[p]In memory of Kimberley Rossall 03/04/1991-17/08/2012. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Kim wasn’t just an amazing netballer. She was a big sister, daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, best friend, role model and now a guardian angel. [/p][p][br][/p][p]She was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma in 2009. She underwent gruelling and extensive treatments of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, an operation and a stem cell transplant. Unfortunately in January 2012 she was told it was incurable and passed away on the 17th of August of 2012. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Kim initially developed pains in her right leg, which she assumed was due to a sports injury as she was playing a lot of sport at the time. Particularly netball. She rested the leg as well as being prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs by the GP. However, when she also developed a lump in the same spot as the pain, her GP referred her for an MRI scan at Blackpool Victoria Hospital before she was then sent to Manchester Royal Infirmary for a follow-up scan and biopsy. Kim’s family remained convinced she had developed a sports injury and were completely devastated to be told she had a cancerous tumour and needed immediate treatment. Kim, who was only aged 18 at the time, was referred to The Christie hospital’s Young Oncology Unit in Manchester where it was discovered the cancer had already spread to her lungs.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Kim was so brave, inspirational and never stopped smiling. A true role model to all at Wyre netball club which she was part of from an early age. She changed and inspired so many lives for the better and continues to do so. [/p][p][br][/p][p]CLIC Sargent is an amazing cause that helped Kim so much in her last few months, when she was the ambassador for the Blackpool race for life and also the face of the Blackpool hospital end of life campaign. They not only helped her face the reality but supported her along her journey which no young person should have to go through. [/p][p][br][/p][p]They also gave her family vital support they really needed to come to terms with the facts and also the support after she passed. Providing much needed support which helped her family come to terms with her passing. [/p][p][br][/p][p]So please please please please donate so CLIC Sargent and Teenage Cancer Trust can continue to help other young people with cancer! [/p][p][br][/p][p]I know my guardian angel will be with me on race day. Kicking my butt every step of the way. [/p][p][br][/p][p]BRING IT ON. 🏃🏻?♀?🏃🏻?♀?🏃🏻?♀?🏃🏻?♀?[/p]
