My story

[p]The Challenge[/p][p]Eleven years ago, when I reached 60 years of age, I started swimming regularly at Victory Pool & Leisure Centre, North Walsham. Since then I have met many challenges, swimming the equivalent of the English Channel, to the Hook of Holland and many other distance swims.[/p][p]I decided, in December 2017 to "go for the big one" and swim the Atlantic (up and down the pool) from Brazil to Senegal. To put this into context, this is a total of:[/p][p]* 2084 miles[/p][p]* Nearly 100 Channel swims[/p][p]* Over 134,000 lengths of the pool[/p][p]Three years later, despite being hampered by Covid 19 lockdowns I have completed over 1000 miles and am fast approaching the halfway mark! [/p][p]I have set myself a target to finish by 2025.[/p][p]To inspire and encourage me I would love to raise as much money as possible for a good cause, and, I believe, there is none better than Hebron Trust.[/p][p]The Charity[/p][p]"No one grows up dreaming of becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol...."[/p][p]The Hebron Trust’s mission is to empower women to live a life in recovery free from addictions. Offering the highest standards in service and practice with a team of experienced professionals, Hebron House (one of only 3 such houses for women only) provides a safe community based on respect, trust, honesty, acceptance and accountability. The approach is successful as all results are well ahead of the national averages.[/p][p]I rather fell into an association with The Hebron Trust – I applied for a paid job but they offered me an unpaid one! That was about 16 years ago and I am humbled by the testimonies of women who have turned their lives around at Hebron. The amazing work done by the residents, staff and volunteers has resulted in the success rates of course completion and successful ongoing remission being well above the national average for residential rehabs. It is a charity absolutely deserving of our support.[/p][p]Please help me to raise vital funds for this small charity and ensure it continues its vital work.[/p][p]Thank you so much.[/p][p][br][/p]
