My story

[p]Hi[/p][p]I hope you all continue to keep safe and well in these continuing unusual and difficult times. [/p][p]June 30th[/p][p]Mission accomplished!! I am very pleased to report, as challenged, I have run 6k each and every day in June, for the 30 days of this month, every morning I have been out and run. I was fortunate that not every one needed to be a solo run, as I thought it might be, I have had some company on some days, but for at least 3/4, I have run on my own, just my watch for company and a hello to/from the folks running/walking/cycling whilst I was out. The weather in the main has been glorious, rarely have I needed a waterproof. Runs had different challenges especially the bruised ribs of the last 6. Well if I will fall! However, the focus of a charity challenge with sponsorship allows much to be overcome - it’ll be strange without it[/p][p]Mid term update - so far, am pleased to report that the challenge is on track and the focus is keeping me going along with all your support and that of my charities. Although I don’t do social media, they do and if it helps the cause ...... so Facebook at the start c/o Arthritis Action and Twitter today June 15th) c/o Hospice UK[/p][p]So it’s nearly the end of May, and am I planning on starting my challenge on June 1st? Yes, I am. I realise I will probably be doing the majority of this on my own, but challenges are not meant to be easy are they? Nearly 10 weeks of lockdown and though I’m not the only one feeling this symptom I know, it is most definitely causing additional fatigue. However, I continue to know that exercise encourages the release of hormones including adrenaline and so enables energy when you think there’s none and, thankfully, releases mood enhancing serotonin. The challenge to come will also give me an additional focus and reason to get out and exercise and haven’t we, so far, been lucky with the weather? So, I thank those who have already sponsored me and thank those who might still, in anticipation - I know all charities are in need and my 2 are no exception, so a heart felt thank you from us all[/p][p]And what’s it about? 2020 - my 66th year - so my charity running challenge plan is all about 6s - to run 6k a day, every day, in the 6th month of the year, i.e. June. Charities remain as before - Arthritis Action with an ethos of supporting personal management of arthritis, and Hospice UK who look to support hospice care providers to deliver the best quality of care [/p][p]I’d been hoping I’d have folks to accompany me on most of my runs, but that will, of course, now be government directed, otherwise this will be a very much more onerous challenge! Or, and only if there is no choice, the month must alter to September - well 9 is 6 upside down and during that month I will be ‘all the 6s’ - I plan for it to be completed within these 6s![/p][p]Thank you[/p]
