Team story

[p]In September 2019, The Palo Alto Networks Western European Channel Team have taken on the challenge of walking up Ben Nevis. We are doing this in aid of The UK Infantile Spasms Trust (UKIST), a charity which provides a network of support to families with children affected by the rare seizure disorder infantile spasms, also known as West syndrome.[/p][p]We have optimistically called ourselves 'The Summit Club' and would really appreciate you helping us to hit our target to raise money for this amazing charity.[/p][p]Our team is made up of: Sacha Rehmat (Captain), Stuart Taylor, Adrian Tisi, Bob White, Chris Sidwell-Smith, Magnus Muhlert, Mark Carpenter, Matt Smith, Miranda Allen, Phil Taylor[/p][p]Infantile spasms (IS) is difficult to diagnose and is often missed due to lack of practitioner awareness or the subtlety of the symptoms. Swift diagnosis is however critical as the longer the condition goes untreated the more harm it does typically resulting in developmental regression, permanent brain damage or worse.[/p][p]Treatment can also be complicated with those options available offering varying degrees of efficacy along with some unpleasant side effects thrown in for good measure.[/p][p]One of our team has personal experience of this with his 10 month old daughter having been diagnosed with this condition. Fortunately, through swift intervention and his daughter now aged 4 is doing well and long terms prospects look favourable although the possibility of future complications does still exists. Not everyone is so fortunate.[/p][p]UKIST has been set up to raise awareness of this rare condition and ultimately to provide support for those families faced with a diagnosis.[/p][p]The attached video link provides more detail on this condition.[/p][p]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOaMntByLOs[/p]
