My story

[p]Hi, and thank you for visitng my fundraising page.[/p][p]My daughter Marigold was born with a rare chromosome disorder (3q11 trisomy mosaicism). She is the most beautiful, serene, happy little girl who has dealt with all of her challenges in a much better way than her parents! [/p][p]When we found out that Marigold's genetic condition is (as far as anyone is aware) completely unique we felt hopelessly ill prepared to deal with the challenges. The doctors and consultants don't have the data to be able to provide a prognosis for Marigold, there simply aren't enough cases of people like her. So into the unknown we went......[/p][p]When we were referred to Unique, it was a lifeline. Unique provided us with support, knowledge, information and an active community that allowed us to learn first hand from others, and in turn provide support back. We even managed to meet two other families, both with daughters who have a 3q duplication similar to Marigold.[/p][p]Throughout the constant trips to hospital, tests, sickness, administration of medication, tests, sleepless nights, emergency hospital admissions, physio, SALT, tests, OT, living down at the GP surgery, and more tests, Marigold has been happily developing slowly and in her own way. Marigold and her older brother are the lights in our lives, but living with our own challenges has needed some extra support and Unique and the Unique community have been invaluable. There is a gap between advanced genetic testing and the care and support offered to those who are given unique diagnoses and Unique does it it can to bridge that gap. It is a very small charity and needs all of the support it can get, so any donation that you can offer will make all the difference. Thank you![/p][p]For more information on Unique, visit www.rarechromo.co.uk[/p][p]For more information on Marigold, visit www.measuringthemarigold.com[/p][p][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]- - - - - - - - - [/p][p]Recent donors[/p][p]John Burness[/p][p]20.01.16 Good luck for the long run!   [span=color: #ff0000;]£40.00  (+ £10 gift aid)[/span][/p][p][/p]
