My story

[p]I regularly cycle between home and work (grand total of 9 miles a day) and occasionally do a few miles more. Last year I read about the cycle route between Edinburgh and Glasgow and decided that I had to do this - it's around 60 miles. I have never cycled this far so it will be a challenge for me and it is also a chance to raise funds for the Rabbit Residence Rescue. The charity has had 21 babies born at the rescue this year (so far) from rabbits that have been rescued. Each rabbit is vaccinated and neutered at a cost of £150 before re-homing, and new owners are asked to contribute around £50 per rabbit towards this cost. If you do the maths you can see why fundraising is so important. Any contribution towards these important and necessary costs will be greatly appreciated by all at the Rescue.[/p][p]More details about the rescue (with lots of photos of the bunnies that you will be helping) are on their website http://www.rabbitresidence.org.uk and Facebook page www.facebook.com/rabbitresidence[/p][p]The photos show the rescue, some of the babies and my trusty bike (which has had 4 punctures this year!).[/p][p]10/6/19 - Thanks to the generous donations already received, I have met the modest target of £75 that I set. There are two weeks to go to the bike ride so I have increased my target to try and help more bunnies and to inspire me to pedal faster.[/p][p]19/6/19 - Friday is fast approaching and I'm hoping the train will be on time. The bike was serviced today so it's good to go and I've started to pack my small bag! Weather forecast is reasonable as well![/p][p]22/6/19 - arrived safely in Edinburgh yesterday and we're off. Lovely day for cycling. [/p][p]23/6/19 - cycle ride safely completed. Over 60 miles and it burnt up just over 2000 calories - good reason for chocolate this evening. Thanks for the support to everyone who has donated from me and all the staff and rabbits at the rescue.[/p][p]26/6/19 - back home now with my two rabbits and enjoying the rest. I'll leave the page open for a few more days, then I'll start thinking about my next challenge. I really enjoyed the bike ride and appreciate everyone's support and kind messages. Thanks again.[/p][p][br][/p]
