[p]Update: [/p][p]I did it!!I I successfully completed the 42 mile Vélo bike ride from Birmingham to Coventry with 17,000 other riders! The weather was definitely on our side and support along the route was fantastic but I had underestimated how scary it would be, being overtaken by wave after wave of faster riders, many of whom were going at full pelt. I also discovered a dislike for steep, fast downhills and found my myself braking like mad on those sections while everyone else sped past me! Nevertheless, I had a great time and am very proud to have finished my 1st cycling event and the longest ride I have ever done, even if I have acquired a few more grey hairs in the process![/p][p]************[/p][p]On 12 May, with hardly any training, I will be taking part in the Birmingham Vélo, cycling 42 miles from Birmingham to Coventry. I am raising money for Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS). [/p][p]PSS is a small, national charity that provides support to women suffering from the relatively unknown and debilitating condition, hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). The charity relies entirely on donations to fund its helpline, national peer supporter network and online forum. It also works with other organisations to improve the medical care that sufferers receive. I suffered from HG in both my pregnancies and so I understand only too well the devastating and traumatic impact it can have. I am now a trustee of the charity and am passionate about raising money and awareness.[/p][p]Please consider donating to the charity so that it can continue to support women and their families through an extremely difficult time in their lives.[/p]
