My story

[p]Thank you for taking the time to visit my page![/p][p]I'm tackling the London Marathon 2018![/p][p]Some of you, my friends and family, may say you've only seen me run for cake or if I'm running late. Well, that's all changed![/p][p]Most families have been touched by cancer and mine's no exception, through a number of family members. We had first hand experience of Marie Curie's support when my husband Matt's Father, Mike, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009. [/p][p]As those close to us know, it was a challenging time. We chose to bring forward our wedding by over a year and arranged it in less than 24 hours with the support of family and friends, because it was more important for us to have our immediate family present than anything else.[/p][p]Mike wanted to be at home for his last days, and when extra support and help was needed, Marie Curie were there. It was a last minute request for help but knowing somebody was there to help us, who was supportive and experienced, was invaluable. Mike came home from hospital on 14th August, he turned 60 on 16th August, we were married on 19th August and he died on 22nd August so it was all very sudden.[/p][p]For that reason, I want to raise money for Marie Curie to support others who may find themselves in that situation. [/p][p][br][/p][p]To give you an idea of how the money helps:[/p][p]£10 provides 40 bereavement books for people who've lost someone close to them.[/p][p]£20 enables a Marie Curie Nurse to look after someone with a terminal illness for an hour, in the comfort of their own home.[/p][p]£70 lets someone with a terminal illness to attend a day therapy at a Marie Curie Hospital.[/p][p]£180 enables a Marie Curie Nurse to be there for a family through the whole night.[/p][p][br][/p][p]I love sport (football and motor sport taking up most of my time!) but I'm not that active, so this will be a challenge for me whilst raising money for a fantastic charity. I'm not aiming for a super speedy time, but simply to complete the London Marathon whilst raising money for a very worthy charity.[/p][p]I have a blog on my marathon training at https://suzeendean.wordpress.com/category/london-marathon-2018 if you want to follow for updates![/p][p][br][/p][p]I cannot say it enough;[/p][p]THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT![/p]

well done Suze, that was such an achievement. We met once, on Herbie's last tour, and I still have a picture of you in my mind. Now it's updated and so much more real. Well done.
