Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. [/p][p]The Paul Jakey Driscoll Annual Memorial Bike Ride is a 50 Mile Bike Ride for charity supported by Brecon Mineral Water From The Heart of Wales Paul Driscoll (Jakey) was training to take part in this event, when he sadly passed away, while training. Jakey offered to take part in the bike ride, to help Macsen, without ever meeting him, as this was the kind of person he was. Therefore, the event has been renamed, in his honour and will now include members of his family who will ride in his name. This will become an annual event, to raise funds for different charities.[/p][p]Charity Bike Ride Sunday 20th October 2013 starting at The Bowens Arms, Skewen at the crack of dawn around 7.30am, we will ride to Bridgend and back, it will be 50 miles. This is a group event where everyone is welcome to join in. It doesn't matter if you know us or not, if you would like to get involved and help by digging deep, not by going into your pockets but with a little bit of sweat and effort. Come On You Know You Want To. If you are interested please contact info@reecossoccerschools.co.uk [/p][p]All funds raised will be donated directly to fund physio and developmental equipment Macsen Williams. [/p][p] Thank you to Brecon Mineral Water for donating water for the event and the police for their ongoing support. [/p][p] Please take a minute to visit our event page, which contains more information and up to date news: http://www.reecossoccerschools.co.uk/charity_bike_ride_69.html [/p][p]Macsen Williams - Reaching his potential [/p][p]Macsen Williams is an amazing 2 year old. He was born with Cerebral Palsy, has Cortical Visual Impairment as well as other conditions. Your donations will be used to purchase Macsen specialist every day living and physiotherapy equipment which will make his life easier and allow him to reach his full potential. [/p][p]His Cerebral Palsy means that he is unable to stand or sit unaided, he can't walk, roll pick things up or talk. His parents have to do everything for him, which is very demanding and in order to do these things numerous specialist equipment is required. Macsen's parents perform exercises and stretches on Macsen's limbs throughout the day to loosen his limbs and help ease his discomfort. [/p][p]Macsen sees an amazing NHS physio therapist once a week who uses specialist equipment and techniques to develop Macsen and ease his problems. He really responds well to this therapy, but would benefit from using these tools throughout the week. [/p][p]His Cortical Visual Impairment means that his brain has difficulty processing images. Over the last year Macsen has developed his vision significantly. This has been done using looking techniques, simple toys and visiting dark sensory rooms with specialist lighting equipment. Macsen's health professionals have advised that the more he is stimulated at an early age the more his vision will develop; his family would like to create him his own sensory room at home. [/p][p]Macsen's additional physical needs means that everyday items such as tables, chairs and toys are unsuitable. [/p][p] Macsen's family are creating a therapy and sensory room for Macsen. We are asking for your support to raise money to buy specialist equipment including a waterbed, physio bench, fibre optic sensory equipment and physio equipment recommended by his therapist. You will be helping Macsen to get the best start in life possible to help him to reach his potential. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
