Team story

[p]Teams from Telereal Trillium and Lands Improvement are combining their efforts to raise money in support of Dementia UK and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.[/p][p]The challenge we have set ourselves is the 25-mile hike across the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 12 hours or less. Given that many of us are often desk-bound for 10 hours a day, the chance to visit God’s Own County, in support of two fantastic causes, has been taken up by 30 members of the team. The walk will take place on 8th August 2019, which, if temperatures are as high as they were last year, definitely won’t be a ‘walk in the park’.[/p][p]Dementia UK and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity both aim to provide the very best care and support, not only to those living with the conditions, but also for their families and loved ones.[/p][p]At some point in our lives, many of us will be faced with having to deal with these devastating illnesses. The impacts of cancer and dementia are not only life-changing to the individuals affected, but also to those around them, having to find the strength to cope and ensure their loved one is cared for and supported each and every day. Although much fantastic ground-breaking research has already been carried out, cures are yet to be discovered, and the need for funding gets ever greater. [/p][p]The costs of the event are being met by Telereal Trillium, so all money raised through your sponsorship of our efforts will be divided equally between the two charities. Your kindness and generosity will certainly spur us on when the going gets tough and the sore knees start to kick in![/p][p]Further information on each charity:[/p][p]Dementia is increasingly affecting many people globally, with it estimated that the number of people living with the disease in the UK will rise to over 1 million by 2021. Dementia UK raises money to provide specialist support for families though their Admiral Nurse Service. When things get challenging or difficult, the nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families: giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline and helps families to live more positively with dementia.[/p][p]The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They ensure their nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, the Royal Marsden never stops looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.[/p][p] [/p][p] [/p][p] [/p]
