Team story

[p]From 16th - 20th September Team China (Jane, Carrie, Sonia and Almudena) will be participating in a 50km trek along the Great Wall of China to raise money for Home-Start Cambridgeshire. We are particularly motivated to raise money for this charity as 3 of us have been volunteers with Home-Start for a number of years and Almudena has an awareness of the value of local charities having been involved in others herself.[/p][p]Home-Start is one of the Uk's leading family support charities and this year is celebrating it's 30th anniversary! It is a voluntary organisation offering support to families who have at least one child under 5 when family life becomes difficult. All round the country local schemes recruit and train volunteers to support local families with young children at home.[/p][p]As volunteers with Home-Start we have had the privilege of visiting and supporting many families. We have valued the excellent training, supervision and ongoing support that trained staff at Home-Start provide. We have seen first-hand the value of early intervention in families with mental, physical, and emotional needs. Home-Start also provides dedicated support groups and a new initiative of a buggy walking scheme for parents which we have been delighted to help support and run.[/p][p]As government funding for charities reduces fund raising becomes key to enable so many charities to continue which is why we are eager to raise as much awareness and as many funds for Home-Start as we can. Any gift you can make will be so much appreciated by the many families that Home-Start benefits and reaches out to. [/p][p]Charity Challenge describes the trek as 'challenging' with 'relentless' steps which will test someone who is relatively fit and has a spirit of adventure! We're training hard and would really value any support and encouragement you can give us![/p][p]Jane, Carrie, Sonia and Almudena[/p][p][br][/p]
